Eudardo Camavinga is going through one of the worst periods since he became a player for Real Madrid. The excuses of his youth and inexperience no longer serve as an alibi and the coaching staff, management and the fans themselves are beginning to question his worth to Real Madrid, and his future at the club is starting to be called into question.

Camavinga and his poor form

This season has not been easy for the French midfielder. His poor performance and bad decisions are reducing the prominence and importance he seemed to be acquiring. His dedication on the pitch is indisputable, sometimes even excessive, and he is accused of not knowing how to measure up and compromising the team’s situation with actions he should have learned to manage by now.

Against Atlético de Madrid he had a new opportunity due to the team’s midfield casualties, and he failed to take advantage of it. Many felt that Luka Modric should have started, and they were proved right. Carlo Ancelotti brought on the Croatian for Camavinga on the hour mark, an early substitution for the Italian coach, and the result reflects badly on the Frenchman. Modric took the team upon his shoulders, took control of the midfield and changed the dynamic of a match that was very even.

Camavinga singled out against Atlético Madrid

Yesterday evening, Camavinga made several serious mistakes, but the one that stands out the most was how he defended Julián Álvarez in the Atlético de Madrid goal. His impetuosity and lack of forcefulness on the wing left the Argentine in a clear position to score the equalizer, a great goal, yes, but the play called for containment from the midfielder.

Apart from the goal, he was seen to be imprecise, out of position, compromising the team with several losses of the ball unbecoming of a midfielder of Camavinga’s stature.

Camavinga’s mistakes

Camavinga has been involved in several injuries that have reduced his performance, which have not allowed him to recover his best version. Since he has returned to the field of play, his level is not very low. In addition, several key errors during the season point to the footballer, such as the penalty he conceded against Gavi in the Spanish Super Cup final, in a play where there was nothing, no danger or goal scoring opportunity, but his lack of attention ended in a silly penalty and the start of the Blaugrana comeback that ended in a humiliating defeat for the Whites.

During the Cup tie against Celta, he gave away a goal to the Vigo team that took the game into extra time after Real Madrid had enjoyed a two-goal lead. Against Osasuna, he gave away another penalty by not judging the situation correctly in a play where the local striker had already shot a ball that was going wide. A penalty that is now whistled, doubtful, but the intensity of that stomp was such that the referee had no choice but to award the penalty. Real Madrid dropped two points in that game.

Finally, in the Champions League, he committed a very clear handball that he could have avoided inside the area against Lille, a match that ended in defeat, one of the reasons why the white club did not finish among the top 8 in the league phase.

Camavinga’s future at stake

These mistakes, added to his poor performance, are beginning to call into question his ability to be the player of the future that Real Madrid expects. Camavinga is still very young, but he has already spent four seasons at Real Madrid, his progress seems to have suddenly stalled, and what was initially patience and praise is now turning against him.

Real Madrid is a team that doesn’t usually wait, and the Frenchman’s season could end with the player out of the team.
