Although football took a back seat this Saturday, the ball must keep rolling. FC Barcelona has suffered a severe blow with the death of their doctor, Dr. Carlos Miñarro. The doctor died on Saturday afternoon at the team hotel, which is why the LaLiga EASports matchday 27 match scheduled for 9 p.m. between Barça and Osasuna in Montjuic was suspended.

Now, in the midst of sadness and waiting to see when the match will be played, FC Barcelona must get back to work because the season doesn’t stop, especially for a team like Hansi Flick’s that is immersed in three competitions: the Cup, the League and the Champions League. It is precisely the latter that now demands all the attention of the Azulgranas in the midst of the dismay over the death of the staff member.

FC Barcelona must host Benfica in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16. In the first leg, there was no revenge. Benfica hoped to get their revenge on Barça in last Wednesday’s match at the Estadio Da Luz in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16, but the Azulgrana were victorious once again.

During the Champions League preliminary round, both teams met in a match in which Hansi Flick’s team staged a spectacular comeback to win 5-4. Hence the Lisbon team’s desire for revenge last night, but no matter how hard they tried, and despite playing with a numerical advantage for much of the game, the Portuguese came up against a wall called Kieran and a Raphinha who scored a great goal to win the game.

A narrow win for Barça that they will now have to seal at Montjuic to sneak into the Champions League quarterfinals. Barça will once again start as favorites given their great performance in this 2025 and the result of the first leg which gives them a certain advantage in a match they hope to win as a tribute to Dr. Miñarro.
