Real Madrid has just come through an intense Champions League night that has left a legacy. The Whites eliminated Atlético de Madrid in a controversial penalty shoot-out in which the spotlight has been put on a shot from 12 yards by Julián Álvarez for touching the ball with both feet. Be that as it may, Carlo Ancelotti‘s side are in the quarter-finals where they will face Arsenal.
With the euphoria of the Champions League still fresh in the memory, it’s time for Real Madrid to get back to work and fight for LaLiga to reach the international break at the top of the table. To do so, they will have to emerge victorious from their visit to Villarreal and see what happens on Sunday in the direct duel between their two rivals for the league championship: Atlético de Madrid and FC Barcelona.
Real Madrid’s schedule
After playing in the league this coming Saturday at 18:30 in Villarreal, Real Madrid will catch their breath with the international break, but will be back with seven games scheduled in just twenty days. The first of these will be their LaLiga fixture to close the month of March against Leganés. They will play on Saturday 29th March at 21:00 at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Their next fixture will be against Real Sociedad on Tuesday, April 1, at 21:30, in the semi-final second leg of the Copa del Rey, where they have the advantage after winning the first leg 0-1 at the Reale Arena. That weekend, on Saturday, April 5, with a yet to be confirmed kick-off time, Valencia will visit the white fortress.
With no time to rest, the Champions League clash with Arsenal will be upon them. The first leg of the quarter-final will be played on Tuesday, April 8 in London starting at 21:00. The return leg will be played at the Bernabéu on Wednesday the 16th, also at that time. In between these two clashes, the Whites will visit Alavés at Mendizorroza on the weekend of the 12th-13th, with the day and time yet to be confirmed. After the return leg against the Gunners, Ancelotti’s team will face Athletic Club on the 19th or 20th of April at the Bernabéu.
The month of April continues with a midweek game to be played between April 22 and 24 in which the Whites will face Getafe. If they qualify for the Copa del Rey final, it will be played on Saturday, April 26. The same goes if they qualify for the Champions League semi-final, which will be on April 29.
