Mbappé keeps Real Madrid going at half speed

Verstappen overtakes McLaren and becomes untouchable at Imola; poor strategy ruins Alonso; Sainz finishes 8th

Real Madrid did their homework last Saturday amid controversy. The Whites have raised their voices about the lack of rest between matches and have taken on LaLiga, which defends its position of 48 hours, as well as asserting, contrary to what the Merengues say, that they could have changed the time of the match. Be that as it may, and despite Ancelotti’s rotations in the lineup, Madrid won at La Cerámica.

Things did not start well for the Whites, who soon found themselves behind on the scoreboard thanks to a goal from Foyth. Real Madrid reacted well, however, and two goals in less than 15 minutes allowed them to turn the game around. Two goals with a name of their own, Kylian Mbappé. A win that made them leaders, waiting to see what happened at the Metropolitano where Barça beat the league leaders with a comeback of their own.

After that match comes the first international break of the year, which will take place between March 17th and 25th. The national teams will be playing for a place in the 2026 World Cup in Canada, the United States and Mexico. We will have to wait two weeks for a new round of LaLiga EA Sports. The next FIFA date will be between June 2nd and 10th.

When does Real Madrid play again?

We will have to wait 13 days after the Whites’ last game to see them on the pitch again. On Saturday, March 29, Real Madrid will host Leganés at the Santiago Bernabéu. The Pepineros are in need of points and find themselves in the relegation zone.

Their next fixture is against Real Sociedad on Tuesday April 1 at 21:30 in the semi-final return leg of the Copa del Rey, where they have the advantage after winning the first leg 0-1 at the Reale Arena. That weekend, on Saturday April 5, with a yet to be confirmed kick-off time, Valencia will visit the white fortress.

With no time to rest, the Champions League clash with Arsenal will be upon them. The first leg of the quarter-final will be played on Tuesday, April 8 in London starting at 21:00. The second leg will be played at the Bernabéu on Wednesday the 16th, also at 21:00. In between these two clashes, the Whites will visit Alavés at Mendizorroza on the weekend of the 12th-13th, with the day and time to be decided. After the return leg against the Gunners, Ancelotti’s team will face Athletic Club on the 19th or 20th of April at the Bernabéu.

April continues with a midweek game to be played between April 22 and 24 in which the Whites will face Getafe. If they qualify for the Copa del Rey final, it will be played on Saturday, April 26. The same goes for the Champions League semi-final on April 29.
