Barça took an important step yesterday in the fight for LaLiga, and they did so not only by relying on ‘Unidad B’ but also by giving playing time to players who had not been counted on for months, such as Ansu Fati and Héctor Fort. However, there was one player who was not there against Mallorca either: Pablo Torre.

Pablo Torre signed for FC Barcelona for €5 million, which could rise to €20 million if certain variables are met. His performance this season started off strong, but his role has faded over the weeks.

The player’s performance is not bad in the few minutes he has had. The midfielder has only played in 12 games, spread over two Champions League matches, eight LaLiga matches, and two Copa del Rey matches. However, in the 373 minutes he has played, he has scored four goals and provided three assists.

His last start was on January 3, when the team made its Copa del Rey debut against Barbastro (0-4). Pablo Torre has gone from strength to strength, at least in Hansi Flick’s pecking order. His start to the season was very promising, but now he is one of Flick’s outcasts.

The club is aware of Pablo Torre’s talent and that he is being harmed by his lack of playing time, so Barça has a clear strategy. The club wants to extend his contract, which expires on June 30, 2026. In fact, according to a recent report in Jijantes, Deco met with the agent of the number 14 last Wednesday for about an hour in an informal meeting to review his situation at the club.

Everything points to Pablo Torre being loaned out to another club for the 2025-26 season. The aim would be for him to gain regularity and competitive rhythm, something that, given the circumstances, seems very difficult at the current Barça given the fierce competition in a crowded midfield. The young Cantabrian has several suitors both within and outside our borders, so the loan would be easy to arrange and would also allow Barça to free up salary space.
