Although Vinicius Jr. has been the first to want to put his future with Real Madrid on hold until the summer, the truth is that his entourage and his agent are making moves to ensure that the Brazilian footballer can become one of the highest-paid players on the squad. With an offer from Saudi Arabia for the winger, his representatives are trying to secure the best conditions for the coming years.
Vinicius and his season at Real Madrid
Vinicius‘ season at Real Madrid has not been the best in recent years. His performance has been below expectations, especially since the start of 2025. Since the injury he suffered at the end of 2024, the Ballon d’Or, his documentary with Netflix, his clashes with rivals and opposing fans, and the dizzying offer he received in February from Arab football, seem to have distracted the player from what is really important, his performance on the pitch.
His lack of attitude and commitment to teamwork, along with alow level of performance in attack, have even led to questions about his future and boos from a section of the Santiago Bernabéu crowd. However, the player is aware that he needs to step up, and that seems to be his goal for the final stretch of the season, in which Real Madrid can still win the Copa del Rey and LaLiga.
The future of Vinicius
Arab football continues to seduce European players by offering sums of money that are unattainable for any team on the old continent. Their first target was players in the final stages of their careers, such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Benzema, but now it seems that they also want to lure future stars such as Vinicius Jr.
In this regard, the Brazilian footballer received an “irresistible” offer of €1 billion for five seasons. At first, the offer seemed like it could convince the player, but as he has reflected on it, he does not believe it is the best decision for his sporting performance and thinks that five years would be too long in a league that could nip his progress as a professional in the bud.
According to Mario Cortegana in The Athletic, it was not the player who called the club to seek a renewal agreement—he has a contract until 2027—but rather Real Madrid who approached him. Even so, the player wants to stay at Real Madrid and is only thinking about a future within the club… but with better conditions. The numbers involved in the deal are complicated.
Vinicius Jr. wants to be the highest-paid player on the team, even above Mbappé. The Brazilian is asking for a salary of €25-30 million net per season for the next five years. But Real Madrid, in the first instance, does not seem willing to meet the player’s demands and could agree to a figure closer to €20 million net for five years.
Several factors work against the player: one is that Florentino Pérez is not going to back down in negotiations, he never has and he will not do so now (it already happened with Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo, among others). The second factor is his poor performance during the final stretch of this season. Even so, the club is aware that he has been the team’s standard-bearer in recent years and a standout player in the last two Champions League campaigns.
Everything indicates that Vinicius will remain part of Real Madrid next season. The elimination against Arsenal left the player very shaken, and he wants to prove that he can be the team’s leader to return the team to European glory. He wants to stay, and so does Real Madrid. All that is needed is for both parties to sit down and decide on the future.
