Alexander-Arnold and the Club World Cup: here’s how things stand right now

Although it seems like an open secret, the truth is that, as of today, there is no official information about the future of the Real Madrid bench. Nothing is known about Carlo Ancelotti, who has a contract until June 2026, although everything suggests that he will leave for Brazil when the season ends. Nor is it known what Xabi Alonso will do or whether Jurgen Klopp is a real option for the bench. However, with regard to the German, a new voice in football believes that he will not be coming to the Bernabéu.

The future on the Real Madrid bench

Everything points to Carlo Ancelotti leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season. The Italian coach’s only hope is to hold on to LaLiga, but even that does not seem likely to enable him to fulfill his contract with the team. The poor season has caused a wave of change around Real Madrid, and it seems that the most successful coach in the club’s history could be packing his bags for a new destination.

Reports suggest that he already has an agreement with the Brazilian national team to take over after his season with Real Madrid ends. Therefore, Carlo Ancelotti will not be at the Club World Cup and will begin a new stage as coach, this time coaching the national team with the most World Cups in soccer history.

Jurgen Klopp and Real Madrid

Jurgen Klopp has been heavily linked with the Real Madrid job in recent weeks. The German coach has been out of the game for a year, having decided to call time on his nine-year spell at Liverpool, where he won the Champions League in one of the finals, as well as other titles that catapulted him into the elite of world coaches.

His experience and his way of managing the dressing room, as well as playing a style of football similar to what Real Madrid wants, make him one of the ideal candidates to take over the bench. However, there are already many voices that do not see the German coach eager to dive back into the dugout, let alone one as tough as Real Madrid’s.

In this regard, Markus Babbel, former Liverpool center back, who knows the coach very well, does not believe he has the energy to take charge of Real Madrid next season.

“I’m not sure if Klopp will return to coaching.” ”I don’t see him returning to Liverpool as manager. And I don’t see him accepting the job at Real Madrid if Carlo Ancelotti leaves this summer and he is offered the job.”

“He stopped managing because he didn’t have the energy anymore and because the pressure is so high, and the pressure at Madrid is even higher than at Liverpool! At Madrid, if you lose one or two games, you’re under a lot of pressure. Ancelotti is under enormous pressure right now after leaving the Champions League. I don’t know if Klopp would want that. He has a perfect life right now, he’s enjoying it, he has a fascinating project at Red Bull, so why would he leave to take over at Real Madrid?”

“I think his job at Red Bull is perfect for him. You don’t work much, you’re not on the training ground every day and you get to travel all over the world. That’s what he wants: to be involved in a project, but not be the main focus. Right now, I think he’s enjoying life, he looks great, he’s lost weight.”

The way is clear for Xabi Alonso

The candidates are jumping ship and Xabi Alonso is left as one of the main options to take over at Real Madrid. His arrival has always been on the cards. He is seen as capable and eager to take on what could be the biggest challenge of his coaching career.
