There are several standout names in Barça‘s season thanks to their great performances in a campaign in which the Azulgrana are aiming for a quadruple that seems increasingly within reach. The keys to their good form have been teamwork, but also the individual performances of players such as Raphinha, whose statistics have put him in the spotlight for the Ballon d’Or.

Just a few months ago, Raphinha was on the transfer list and the club was looking to offload him. However, the arrival of Hansi Flick, as the player himself confirmed, changed everything and now the Brazilian has turned his season around. He has scored 31 goals and provided 23 assists this season.

Problems with renewal

With these figures, it is not surprising that Barça wants to extend the Brazilian’s contract, but in recent weeks it has become clear that the road to renewal is not easy. The striker’s current contract expires on June 30, 2027.

The main points of contention in the negotiations revolve around two key issues: money and contract length. In terms of financial terms, the sticking point is the disparity between what the number 11 is asking for, who currently earns approximately €12.5 million gross per season (according to Capology), and what the team is willing to offer.

In addition, SPORT adds another problem to the renewal: the length of the contract. Barcelona apparently has in mind to offer him two additional years, but under a 1+1 formula, i.e., one fixed year and another optional year, depending on his performance. This offer does not seem to be to the Brazilian’s liking, as he prefers the two years to be fixed.

New summit to close the deal

According to the program Jijantes, Deco met with the Brazilian’s agent to lay the groundwork for the renewal. However, the talks are still in the early stages. A new summit will be held to iron out the details and seal the future of a key player who has repeatedly expressed his desire to remain with the club.
