Real Madrid Already Thinking About Replacing Modrić: The Two Candidates Florentino Is Considering

The two major records Alonso holds in Monaco that no one has matched

Rodrygo‘s season at Real Madrid has gone from good to bad to worse. The Brazilian winger started the season in excellent form, but as the months have gone by, now in 2025, his performance has declined alarmingly, to the point that it has led to despair among both the board and the fans. The player has received significant offers from the Premier League, but it seems that he has no intention of leaving.

Rodrygo on his way out

Rodrygo’s poor season, especially with a season finale well below expectations, has set off alarm bells at the Santiago Bernabéu. The player has not scored a goal since the Champions League round of 16 against Atlético Madrid, but it has never been so cheap to be a starter at Real Madrid, and the player has continued to accumulate minutes without performing.

But Ancelotti said enough was enough in the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona. The player was substituted at halftime due to his poor performance, and since then, he has not played a single minute. With LaLiga still up for grabs, the player missed the match against Celta Vigo at the Santiago Bernabéu due to a fever. He then missed the decisive match in Barcelona, where LaLiga was decided, as the player said he did not feel fit to play. Two days later, he left training with discomfort, and since then, nothing more has been heard from him and we do not know if he will be available for the match against Real Sociedad that closes the league championship.

Rodrygo, the Premier League’s object of desire

Rodrygo has no shortage of offers to change scenery. The Premier League is very interested in the player and is trying to lure him with big financial and sporting offers. In addition to offering him a salary much higher than what he would earn at Real Madrid, they are offering him the chance to be the leader of their respective projects and to play on the left wing, a position in which the player is most comfortable on the pitch but which he cannot play at Real Madrid due to Vinicius and Mbappé.

Several teams have contacted the player’s entourage to try to sign him. One of the teams that has been linked with him the longest is Manchester City: Pep Guardiola would love to have the Brazilian international, he has never hidden his admiration for him and would be delighted to have him in the team. However, teams such as Arsenal and Chelsea seem determined to go all out to secure his services, and these are the options that could be most appealing to the player.

Rodrygo wants to stay

However, the situation surrounding Rodrygo could have taken a turn in the last few hours. According to Diario Madridista, the Brazilian footballer has told those close to him that he does not want to leave Real Madrid and that he wants to play under Xabi Alonso. The Tolosa-born coach will have a lot to say on the matter. The player was one of Carlo Ancelotti‘s regulars, but now he will have to find out what role he will play under the new coach. However, as he has stated on the few occasions he has spoken to the press, the player wants to stay at Real Madrid, he wants to make history at the club he dreamed of playing for as a child and he does not want to throw it all away because of one bad season. He is convinced of his talent and that he can contribute to the team, just as he has done in previous years. We will see if he continues to defend the Real Madrid shirt or if he decides to move on next season.
